Ramadan Iftar Gathering with Current and Former Residents Reflects Commitment to Medical Training

During Ramadan 2026, Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar — President of Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI), Chairman of the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center (PKLI), Chairman of Jinnah Medical Complex and Research Center (JMC), and Member of the Prime Minister’s Task Force for Hepatitis C Elimination — hosted an Iftar gathering with current and former medical residents.

Sharing the moment, Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar described the gathering as “a proud moment”, reflecting on the journey of mentoring and training young physicians.

He noted that seeing current and former residents together represented the realization of a long-held dream — to teach and train local doctors to the highest possible standards.

Throughout his career, Prof. Dr. Saeed Akhtar has emphasized that building strong healthcare institutions in Pakistan requires not only modern medical facilities but also a strong commitment to education, research, and the training of future medical professionals. Institutions like PKLI aim to create an environment where young doctors can develop advanced skills, pursue academic excellence, and contribute to the future of healthcare in Pakistan.

The Ramadan gathering served as a reminder that mentorship and training remain central to his vision of strengthening Pakistan’s medical system through the development of highly trained local physicians.
