PKI at PAF

PKI SERVICES AT PAF HOSPITAL ISLAMABAD

PKI started its operations within PAF Hospital from May 2020 and have treated more than 4500 patients in past 04 years, including about 530 surgeries in past one year alone including complex cancer surgeries, kidney transplant, stones surgeries using latest equipment and other major and minor urological surgeries. PKI has recently been shifted to newly developed facility of PAF Hospital allowing us to serve our patients in a better manner. This newly built facility comprised of 10 OPD clinics, one academic room, one conference room with complete audio video facility, 02 admin rooms, 02 procedure rooms, 02 supply rooms and waiting area for about 50 patients. It also has 02 dedicated state of the art operating rooms with latest equipment. It also includes Lithotripsy suit with 03 bedded recovery with cardiac monitors.

PATIENT SCREENING

Patient coming for PKI either directly or referred by Physician has to undergo a detailed financial screening as per policy.

Depending upon the financial status, the patient is offered either total free or partial payment for treatment. The screening is re-checked by one of the three PKI directors if needed.

PATIENT REGISTRATION

After screening the patient, the patient is registered with PAF as PKI patient with unique medical record number for future reference.

HEALTH CARE DELIVERY

For OPD visit, the patient on partial payment will pay Rs 500 as consultation fee compared to Rs. 2500 for a private patient. Patient availing totally free services will not pay any fee.

For surgeries and admissions, the patients on partial payment will submit the pre-decided amount with manager PKI . Hospital will bill PKI for that patient, while patient at time of discharge will not pay any fee. Patient availing totally free services will not pay any fee.

Doctors of PKI do not charge anything; however, the fees are charged in system and are refunded back to PKI.

There is no difference in treatment of PKI vs private patient in hospital as PKI is working as a panel like any other insurance panel. This ensures secrecy and let us to avoid hurting the self-respect of PKI patient.

PKI has treated more than 190,000 patients since its inception.
Pakistan Kidney Institute is actively treating the poor kidney patients
at PAF Hospital. In the past 3 years, the total number of 3362 patients have been
treated including 969 minor and major surgeries which include complex cancer
surgeries and renal transplants since April, 2020

Institute of Kidney Diseases (IKD) Peshawar is a Premier Urology and Transplant Institute, where Kidney Transplant program was closed for last two years. Alhamdulillah Pakistan Kidney Institute (PKI) led by Prof Saeed Akhter and his team has signed a MOU with IKD to restart their Transplant Program at IKD and build their systems to enable them. This is the only public sector transplant program in the whole province. PKI agreed to develop and supervise the Kidney transplant program at Institute of Kidney diseases Peshawer. Prof. Saeed Akhter visited various departments of IKD to assess available medical & para medical infrastructure.
